Flashback Friday

Tom's cute siblings when he was about 4. So this can be about Tom because he's technically an author on this blog even if really he only functions as tech support. I also wanted to flashback to this picture because baby Paul totally looks like Eliza right? You can tell what side came through for her.

My Blog's 1st Birthday!! (And a quiz!)

This month is my one year anniversary of the blog I created because all the cool kids were doing it. In celebration, I've created a quiz for all of you to take regarding...my blog!!! Awesome though the prizes may be, don't cheat because they're not worth it. I've taken questions from the first few posts I clicked on and a lot of sidebar stuff. Flashback Friday

So I stole this idea from Amanda (who stole it from Bridget, whom I've never met). I like the idea a lot.

This was in August '06. We were in Utah, visiting from Virginia. We were actually there for Tom to graduate!! Tom lives in the same town as most of my roommates from Sophomore year so I called one up, Michelle, and wanted to see if we could get together. She was nice enough to invite me over for a little chat, even though she was getting married in a couple of days!!! It was really nice of her to take out the time to visit. And to this day I'm a little bummed that I hadn't thought things through and just traveled with Samantha a few days later by myself so I could stay for the wedding. I'm not tricky enough to think of things like that very often.

I did it! I did it!!

So waaaay back in January I set a New Years resolution to run a 5K. I started this couch to 5K running plan. I was pretty faithful but had a setback in February when I was sick. So I started over again and made it to week six. I would have liked to finish the whole plan before doing it but there are no 5K in my area between now and September (gee I wonder why :)? So I did it!! I ran a 5K. I have friends who run marathons so you know-but I am proud of myself because I put a lot of time and work into it and I actually DID a New Years Resolution. I ran well over half of it consecutively and 30 minutes total. It took me 44 minutes. Oh, and by the way-5K translates into 3.1 miles. I have no idea what place I finished in, just that a septugenarian soundly beat me. Oh well....maybe next time.

Happy Mother's Day

To the amazing mothers in our lives: Thank you for your sacrifice, service and love. We owe all that we are to you. We love you.

Look What Eliza can do

I think she kind of looks like that scary girl from "The Ring"

Sorry about the vacuum noise-Samantha was vacuuming for chores. I just have to do things when I think about them.

Makes Me Think of the Good Old Days-Happy Birthday to You!!

Tommy too-too is now two!!! Oh my goodness, let the terrible two's begin (and they have). He is my sweet, darling little boy though. He had a fun and fabulous birthday yesterday with his party today. We didn't do too much on his actual birthday except open presents from us and Grandparents. Thank you Grandparents for the wonderful gifts-they were perfect. Cars from my parents and trains from Tom's parents. It was all Tommy could ever want. We got him a set of blocks and an outdoor Little Tike's basketball hoop.

Poor Tommy had a fairly lame birthday last year because we were 10 days from moving across country. So I wanted to do a big party for him this year and I think I did a pretty good job. I worked super hard yesterday. We invited 7 friends from church (5 of whom could make it) and we did the Disney CARS theme. I did as much cars stuff as I could think of.

We had:
Sandwiches in the shape of cars (and other lunch stuff)
We chalked the driveway with cars, roads, exit signs
Traffic signs I made throughout the party area
Tom and I made cardboard box cars (pictured below) for the kids to race in and play Red light/green light in.
We made car silhouettes (with my cricut!) with flames and lighting bolts to glue on and decorate
We put all of Tommy's car stuff in the center of the floor-that ended up being the most age-appropriate and popular.
The cupcakes were decorated with white frosting, then an oreo, and a gummy life saver on top of that-they looked like tires.
CARS goody bags with the candy race car that I have a picture of just below

So, was all my work worth it?!? Oh absolutely! Tommy saw things as I was getting ready and did his little Tommy jig of joy for everything. He also spent a good portion of the afternoon just wearing his cardboard car. He had a fabulous time at the party. I just loved having everyone over and felt like it was a great way to make/solidify friendships, etc. We had a blast and I love my two year old Tommy.
