Flashback Friday

Samantha's so cute in this photo right? Just darling. Looks like an angel, very sweet, like a doll....Well, looks can be deceiving.

I've had some doozy of days/times with my kids, we all have. But, this was the.worst.ever!!!!!! We were in Utah for Paul and Sarah's wedding almost 2 years ago. So Tommy was a baby and not sleeping through the night yet, new place, new beds, LONG flight from VA and we were still on Eastern time I think. We basically got to stay one weekend for the wedding, and it was really hard to make two cross-country flights in one weekend.

Well, let me tell you, Samantha acted out. The day of the wedding was hot (August) and I was miserable and tired. The sealing was great because I didn't have either of my kids but then after pictures we had the luncheon. Let me reiterate, I was hungry, tired, hot, miserable and I guess Samantha was too. She just screamed during the luncheon, so I took her out. I held her outside of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building while she screamed herself to sleep. So I thought I could go back inside right? WRONG! Every time I shifted she screamed. So I sat there. Tom, the sweetie that he always is, came outside to try to take her, but seeing as she screamed each time that wasn't happening-plus I was angry beyond reason *. And other people came out to tell me really helpful things like "The food's been served, so if you want some then you need to come inside" I pretty much wanted to kill everyone.

But she slept, I eventually ate, it cooled down, I never felt any less tired, but she sure was darling at the reception that night...she had had a nap.

* If this doesn't sound that bad to you, I suppose you just had to be experiencing it. I really don't think I've ever been so mad at a child before or since.

I'm with you, sometimes the worst times are when you are just wanting to have a normal time yourself--and you are as cranky as your kid, you just don't have anyone to take care of you and you have to be the one taking care of them. Frustrating, but she sure does look cute.
