Our family dog Sadie passed away today. She went peacefully and without much pain, probably of a heart attack. I was fourteen when we got her for Christmas, I had been asking for a dog for 10 years. She was a beautiful 1/2 Rhodesian Ridgeback, 1/2 German Shepherd. Mostly we talked to her in gentle derision citing her stench, her fleas, or just yelling "OUT" but we loved her. We will surely miss her.

We will miss you our beautiful doggie. I'm sorry for the million times I said, "Sadie--you stink". I mean, it was true, but I'm still sorry. And I'm sorry how we'd trick you into coming into the garage when the gardeners came, so you'd stop barking at them. It was mean to show you your leash and then not take you on a walk! We love you and really will miss you coming in and nosing us while we tried to walk across the garage in peace. I guess I can cross "Buy Sadie a new dog house" off my to-do-list, too. RIP in doggie heaven, Sadie! I hope you are ear-infection free, running madly around with other dogs on a heavenly beach somewhere, happily sniffing strangers and finding tasty things to munch merrily on.
