Hi, y'all! This is Tom -- Emily is letting me be a guest writer today, so I thought I would post about something near and dear to my heart: my son's sleeping habits. Every night we put our kids to bed about 8:00 PM. Samantha and Eliza are little angels and just go to sleep (Samantha might read for a little while). Tommy, however, refuses. Every night, he stays in his room for about 3 minutes and then wanders out. Sometimes he just stays upstairs, but usually he'll come downstairs where Emily and I are. We encourage him to go back to bed, and sometimes even carry him there. Invariably, though, he comes back out. Eventually he falls asleep somewhere -- last night it was sprawled on the floor at the bottom of the stairs; tonight I'm pretty sure he fell asleep leaning on our office chair by the computer. Finally, we get him in bed. But it's not over yet. Tommy will often wake up two or three times in the night and come into our bedroom -- so I wake up and look over to see this little person standing right beside the bed, not making any noise. After putting him back in bed a few times, he usually stays -- until about 5:30 AM when he wakes up. I don't think he's slept past 6 in weeks. Honestly, I don't know how he goes on such little sleep. Maybe he's getting ready in case he has to pull any all-nighters for preschool. Anyway, I better get to bed myself -- Tommy will be in to wake me up soon!

This is pretty much exactly the same behavior Adam exhibits. I'm glad to know we're not alone in having nightowl children!

This is hilarious! We've been through this same scenario. I promise, it does get better. :)
